MEET TAYLOR & KELLEY

Wow is it really November already? With fall wedding season coming to a close, we thought this would be the perfect time to reflect on how are we doing. When we are “go go go” it can be easy for us to enter into survival mode and put certain things, like our own health, on the back burner. And whether that health is mental, physical, or emotional, it is important to remember that we can’t see progress in other areas of our life if we aren’t taking care of ourselves. On today’s podcast we are sharing why health truly is wealth as just a little reminder to please take care of yourself!

Health is Wealth: Why Taking Care of Yourself is the Key to a Thriving Business

Running a business is demanding. Long hours at the computer, back-to-back weddings, endless editing marathons, and the constant pressure to market yourself—it’s no wonder so many photographers and filmmakers find themselves exhausted and burned out.

We spend so much time planning for the next booking, the next client, and the next big opportunity. But when was the last time you planned for yourself?

Because here’s the truth: your business can only grow as much as you’re able to sustain it. And if you’re not taking care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally, you’re capping your potential before you even start.

So let’s talk about how prioritizing your health can directly impact your business success—and a few areas to evaluate to see if it’s time to make some changes.

Step 1: Are You Prioritizing Sleep?

Why Sleep is Your Business’s Secret Weapon

Lack of sleep isn’t just about feeling tired—it affects your decision-making, creativity, patience with clients, and overall energy levels. When you’re well-rested, you edit faster, communicate more clearly, and show up more confidently in your work.

Signs You Need to Improve Your Sleep Habits:

  • You wake up already feeling exhausted.
  • You rely on caffeine to get through the day.
  • Your mood is unpredictable (hello, irritability and stress).
  • You feel constantly overwhelmed and mentally foggy.
  • You’re staying up late working, then struggling to function the next day.

Ask yourself: What small changes could I make to prioritize better sleep? (Hint: Screens off earlier, a set bedtime, and maybe some magnesium lotion might be a great start!)

Step 2: How Are You Fueling Your Body?

Why Nutrition Impacts Your Work

Editing marathons fueled by coffee and snacks may feel productive, but under-eating or relying on processed foods can drain your energy and focus. High-protein meals and whole foods can stabilize your energy levels, keep you full longer, and help with mental clarity.

Signs You Need to Rethink Your Nutrition:

  • You crash mid-afternoon and rely on sugar or caffeine to keep going.
  • You skip meals, then binge on whatever is available.
  • You don’t have a plan for your meals, so you end up eating fast food often.
  • You constantly feel sluggish, bloated, or fatigued.

Ask yourself: What small changes could I make to fuel my body better? (Example: Could you prep a few protein-packed meals or swap out one processed snack for something nutrient-dense?)

Step 3: Are You Moving Enough?

Why Movement is Key to Long-Term Business Growth

Spending hours at a desk editing or standing at weddings can take a toll on your body. Movement isn’t just about fitness—it’s about stamina, reducing stress, and keeping your body strong for years to come.

Signs You Need More Movement in Your Routine:

  • Your back, shoulders, or wrists hurt from too much computer work.
  • You feel stiff or sluggish after long work sessions.
  • You rarely get outside for fresh air and movement.
  • You struggle with low energy throughout the day.

Ask yourself: How can I incorporate more movement into my day? (Walking pads, standing desks, stretching breaks—small habits add up!)

Step 4: How’s Your Mental Health?

Why Mental Health Impacts Every Part of Your Business

Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or constantly stressed? It might not just be your workload—it could be a sign you need to prioritize your mental well-being. Taking care of your mind helps you set boundaries, avoid burnout, and make better business decisions.

Signs You Need to Prioritize Mental Health:

  • You feel guilty anytime you’re not working.
  • Your stress levels are constantly high.
  • You struggle to “turn off” your business and relax.
  • You’re feeling disconnected or isolated.

Ask yourself: What’s one small way I can prioritize my mental health this week? (Maybe it’s setting work boundaries, scheduling downtime, or talking to a friend.)

Step 5: Do You Have a Routine That Supports You?

Why Routines Make Life Easier

Successful wedding pros don’t just wing it—they have daily habits that support their health, energy, and productivity. A good routine helps you start your day strong, stay focused, and prevent burnout.

Signs Your Routine Needs a Reset:

  • You wake up feeling rushed and scattered.
  • Your workday has no structure—just reacting to whatever comes up.
  • You struggle to separate work and personal time.
  • You always feel like you’re playing catch-up.

Ask yourself: What’s one habit I could add to my daily routine to make my life easier? (Example: A 10-minute morning walk, meal prepping, or setting a hard stop time for work.)

Final Thoughts: Your Health is the Foundation of Your Success

Your success isn’t just about how many weddings you book or how much revenue you bring in. It’s about building a business that supports a life you actually want to live.

So as you look ahead, ask yourself:

✅ What small shifts can I make to prioritize my physical, mental, and emotional health?
✅ How can I build routines that support my business instead of drain me?
✅ Where am I holding myself back by neglecting my own well-being?

Your health is your greatest asset. When you take care of yourself, everything else in your business benefits.
