Working More Isn’t the Flex You Think It Is

With a combined 23+ years of experience, we created the LEVEL UP brand to help filmmakers + photographers elevate their businesses and their craft, so they can make more and work less.

MEET TAYLOR & KELLEY

You didn’t start this business to feel overworked, underpaid, and creatively drained. But somehow, between booking too many weddings and saying yes to everything, you’ve found yourself stuck in the cycle.

If you’ve ever thought, “I love what I do… but I can’t keep doing it like this,” this episode is for you.

We’re talking about what it really looks like to create a business that supports your life—not one that takes it over. The kind of business where you’re shooting less, earning more, and finally attracting the kind of clients who light you up.

Spoiler: It’s not about having the perfect portfolio. It’s about mindset, clarity, and the willingness to say no to what no longer fits.

What If You Didn’t Have to Work More to Make More?

If you’ve ever said to yourself, “I love what I do, but I just can’t keep doing it like this,”—you’re not alone.

So many wedding photographers and filmmakers reach a point where they’re fully booked and completely burned out. You built a business you were once wildly excited about, but now it feels like it’s running you. The passion is still there, but the pace? It’s exhausting.

This week on The Level Up Podcast, we’re talking about what it actually looks like to take back control—not by working harder, but by working smarter. This episode is for the photographer or filmmaker who’s been in the game for a few years, has the portfolio to prove it, and is ready for a new chapter—one that includes more margin, more freedom, and more income… without more hustle.

One of the biggest mindset shifts we dive into is this: you don’t have to say yes to everything. In fact, constantly saying yes is usually what leads to burnout. You weren’t meant to fill every weekend or be the perfect match for every single client who inquires with you. That’s not sustainable—and it’s definitely not the path to long-term growth.

When you start protecting your time instead of giving it away, everything changes. And I understand that it’s easy to believe that pulling back means settling. That raising your rates will scare people off. That saying no might unravel the business you’ve worked so hard to build. But what we’ve seen again and again is that the opposite is true. Saying no to the wrong things is exactly what makes room for the right ones—the right clients, the right weddings, the right direction.

This episode is your reminder that you’re not selfish for craving weekends off. And you’re not less successful because you want to slow down a bit. You’re just evolving—and your business can evolve with you.

You get to decide what your business looks like. Not some industry standard, not your local market, not the people watching from the sidelines. You do.

And if this conversation lit something up in you—if it made you feel seen, or reminded you of what’s possible—we’d love to invite you to go even deeper.

We’re hosting a free three-day workshop called Break Into the Luxury Market, and it’s designed specifically for photographers and filmmakers who are ready to elevate the way they work, attract premium clients, and finally build a business that actually runs as profitable on paper as it looks from the outside (ahem – Instagram).

You don’t need to keep grinding just to stay afloat. You can build something smarter—something more aligned with the life you actually want. And we’ll show you how.
